Quality Engineer.
Hours: Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 16:45, Friday 08:00 to 12:00. (37 Hours)
Location: Sittingbourne. Kent
Salary dependant on experience.
Dating back to the 1950’s EPS Logistics Technology has been continuously involved in the design, development and project management of specialised containers and handling equipment, primarily for the defence and aerospace industries.
We are proud to remain an independent, family-owned manufacturing business with a highly skilled workforce, capable of managing medium to large scale projects. Due to continued growth and new projects, we are looking to hire a Quality Engineer to join our Quality Department. This is a full time, office-based position with occasional site visits as required.
The job role:
Working within the Inspection Team and reporting to the Quality Manager you will be in a supervisory role responsible for inspection related activities, specific to project requirements, which may include but are not limited to the following:
· Perform dimensional and/or visual part inspection to engineering drawings, using gauges and other relevant inspection equipment.
· Perform material inspections.
· Attention to detail.
· Controlling the inspection of all parts received from suppliers, utilising several manual and digital inspection measuring devices and equipment.
· Initiating and investigating non-conforming parts. Quarantine items, raising non-conformance reports and liaising with suppliers for corrective actions and countermeasures.
· Perform and verify First Article Inspection (FAI) data to AS9102 requirements.
· Perform product release and acceptance in the company ERP system
· Perform document reviews, analyse, inspect and archive in compliance to EPS requirements prior to release to finished goods.
· Work to forecasts and plans based on Business requirements.
· Active role in continuous improvement.
· Training of the Inspection Team.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate the following competencies / qualifications:
· Greater than three years previous experience working in in a Quality role.
· Good understanding of ISO 9001:2015 QMS requirements and customer focus.
· Internal Auditor
· Strong communication skills both verbal and written, with good interpersonal skills.
· Computer literacy, proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
· Self-motivated and able to prioritize and resolve competing priorities and workloads.
· Knowledge of and ability to interpret engineering drawings and tolerancing.
· Experience using a range of measuring instruments and calibration to various testing standards.
· Analytical skills must be able to spot problems quickly and find the underlying causes so changes can be made and analyse test results.
· Critical thinking, once problems are identified, solutions and improvements must be found. This might involve writing a new process, procedure or work instruction.
· Basic knowledge of welding inspection.
· Able to adapt to the ever-changing technology and willingness to learn new skills.
· Hands-on approach to problem solving and attention to detail.
· Excellent team working and leadership skills.
· Full UK Driving Licence
· Understanding of AS9102 (FAI) would be beneficial.
· Able to generate CMM Arm programs would be beneficial (Polyworks).
